The 2nd edition of Lagos Fashion Meniac 2013 “The unveiling of Style Trends”

The 2nd edition of Lagos Fashion Meniac 2013 “The unveiling of Style Trends” lived up to expectation judging by the fresh and creative designs that the various young designers brought to the fore.  It was an event that witness different styles and designs of Ankara. While some of the designers went wild with their creativity, others came out regale and simple. We say ‘kudos’ to the organizers and the young designers at work. Today we bring you pictures of various designs in our first presentation of happenings at the event.  

JULEE DJOULDE BOCOUM – Living Her Dream

What do you make of an individual who consistently shuttles between two or more countries even at odd hours for fashion shows and photo shoots in order to enhance and live her dream? Watching her on runways and during photo shoot is breathtaking.

 Meet 23 years old Ghanaian/Togolese model Julee Doulde Bocoum whose passion for modeling and desire is to walk international runways of Paris, Milan, London, New York etc but that has not stopped her from walking in shows like the recent Elima Fashion Festival, Vlisco, Glitz Africa Fashion Week, Ghana Fashion Week, Daviva, Woodin, GTP and many others. She has also walk and shot look books for some renowned African designers which include Alphadi, Kofi Ansah, Gilles Toure, Modela Couture, Christie Brown, Mai Atafo, Aya Morrison, Dio Ali, Peachy Purr, Bee Arthur etc. She said ‘’I’m really enjoying myself because I get to visit amazing places, meet people from different cultures and of course wear the most beautiful clothes’’. 

Fashion models will readily tell you that it’s not all fashion shows that end with smiling experience, for Julee ‘’it was a show we did for a textile product not long ago and the whole show was full of mistakes and trips. The audience didn’t notice anything but we felt bad because we knew that we didn’t do our job to the fullest’’. Even though she is the current rave in the Ghana modeling industry at the moment, her wish is to be on the cover of Vogue magazine one day. Being the top model on Ghana number one fashion TV show ‘’Fashion Coast’’ her role models are Iman, Tyra Banks and Naomi Campbell. Though the modeling industry is not financially rewarding in this part of the world, it’s encouraging knowing that there are models like Julee Djoulde Bocoum out there that are ready to give their best and display positive optimism for the growth of a marginalised industry and living their dreams to the fullest.
