EMPIRE OF THE CLOUDS': FREELY FLYING IN FASHION WITH SARAH BUCHANAN

From the propeller to supersonic jets, the history of aviation design is brimming with evolutions, special materials and increasingly aerodynamic shapes, able to cut through the air and dominate the skies. What does this have to do with fashion collection "Empire of the Clouds" by Sarah Buchanan? For the general concept, the fashion designer was inspired by the development in the design of air vehicles throughout history, and to that all too human obsession that has always accompanied us: to conquer the force of gravity and move freely.
In her silhouettes we can distinguish fabrics that have been deconstructed into fragments and strips that envelope and are suspended like futuristic propellers around the body, thanks to the innovative use of materials and conceptual cuts and structures. In the flock of flying machines Sarah was inspired by to find the concepts for her experimental garments, we discover her fascination with the indescribable and magical, that underlines the essence of this human adventure still underway, especially in the dimension of a collective dream.
